Outdoor Report 12/15
Amy from the FMO Tigard store with a recently caught Olympic Peninsula Winter Steelhead
Steelhead are showing up in the Portland/Vancouver area and should be also showing on the coast with fishable river conditions. Popular methods are "Bobberdoggin" and "Plugging" although float and jig and float and bead fishing is very productive as well. The ODFW planted lots of big Brood Trout (5 to 15 lbs) in a number of lakes and ponds this week. If you want to get a lunker on the end of your line check out where to go following this link. Also take note, that including the 80 brood trout stocked, Henry Hagg Lake received 8,000 hatchery trout recently and should make for a good winter trout fishery. We are in full migration mode with birds down in Oregon and Washington on both sides of the Cascades. As stillwaters are freezing look for birds to hit the rivers after feeding in the morning. The Sauvie Island Eastside Harvest for last weekends shoot day was a whopping 4.1 birds per hunter average. Christmas gift hunters are scoring big in Fisherman's Marine and Outdoors 3 Portland area stores and finding great helpers in "guiding" them to trophy presents. If you aren't sure what to get but you know FMO is your sportsman's or sportwomen's favorite store, we have gift cards for the stores and internet shoppers so you can't get skunked. As always, tight lines, shoot straight, and most of all, be safe.
