Outdoor Report 12/22
Crabbing has reopened on the entire Oregon Coast. Expect lots of good full crab during periods of dry weather in Coastal watersheds. There are good reports of Steelhead being caught in the Coastal Rivers and some in Southwest Washington. The Clackamas and Sandy have put out a few fish. Portland Harbor Sturgeon catch and release fishing has remained good. A reminder that a number of Oregon Rivers and Lakes are open year round for trout and that last week lots of Trophy Trout were stocked in many lakes and ponds throughout the Willamette valley with the most significant plantings at Henry Hagg Lake in Washington County. There have been great reports from area duck hunters who have taken advantage of teh recent migration and the thawing of previously iced up waters. Cold weather and the forecast of a drying trend, should help concentrate birds in the usual sports. The Sauvie Island duck harvest average for the last few shoot days has remained at over 2 birds per hunter. A reminder that Fishing and Hunting Licenses make a great gift for the Outdoors man or woman. See the ODFW site for what information is needed to make a gift purchase. Merry Christmas and be safe out there.
