Outdoor Report for 10/20
The Columbia River closes Friday at midnight for all Salmon and Steelhead angling from Buoy 10 up to Hwy 395. The recent rains have filled the coastal tributaries making them floatable and full of fish. Keep a watchful eye on the North Coast river levels as they should come into shape as early as this weekend. Steelhead are throughout the Deschutes but water clarity has made fishing tough. The John Day is kicking out good numbers of Steelhead around Cottonwood. Fall is a great time to chase trout in both lowland and high lakes before the snow comes. Crappie fishing at Silver Lake in Washington has been good. Duck hunting opened last weekend to quality hunting weather and lots of limits were filled. Sauvie Island had a 3.0 birds per hunter average on opening day. The recent storms brought snow to the high country for 1st season Rocky Mountain Elk Hunters. Be sure to check the regulations, be and be safe. Tight lines and shoot straight.
