Outdoor Report for 10/27
As expected, the North Coast salmon fishery turned on last weekend but, with some midweek rains, it slowed down a bit. The river level forecasts look great for this weekend and it should be hot again. Don’t expect to be alone. If you are looking for solitude, head east to the Deschutes and John Day rivers for late summer steelhead. There have been good reports of catch and release sturgeon fishing throughout the Willamette. Look for them from the mouth to the falls. Be careful with the recent rains as the river is carrying some fall debris. Duck hunting slowed on the lower Columbia but the storm from the week before last concentrated a large number of divers and sea ducks in the Lewis and Clark refuge. There is some interesting hunting for those with sea duck permits or if you are looking for Canvasbacks. Lots of Bluebills are in the area as well but they don’t open in zone one until Nov 5th. Locally Sauvie Island and hunt clubs may have experienced a slow down due to the large amount of sheet or standing water in area fields. Rocky Mountain Bull season opened October 26th and Western Oregon deer hunters have until November 4th to bring home the meat. Always be sure to check the regulations and be safe. Shoot straight and Tight lines
