Outdoor Report for 11/10
Although the Fall Chinook fishery is waning, if you can get down to the coast soon, with good river conditions, you might be rewarded with one of the big fish that seem to be prevalent in a lot of the catches this year. Well it happened, the first Winter Steelhead report of the year! We received a report from one of our Oregon City store customers that a winter steelhead was caught by a plunker at Meldrum Bar. Seems early but get your gear now and avoid the rush because there will surely be more to follow. Tackle sales of Sturgeon leaders and sinker slides have taken off along with lots of good reports of catch and release Sturgeon fishing all through the Willamette River. With less freshwater coming into the bays, crabbing should really start picking up. Nothing seems to have improved on the waterfowl front as we have had record mild temperatures in area this past week. Sauvie Island harvests reports still show an average around a 1.5 birds per hunter. Scaup season is now open and there were quite a few in the area after the large storms the 2nd week of October. Check regulations before heading out and good luck!
