Outdoor Report for 11/17

Razor clams are on tap with some good tides this weekend and a 3 day opening at some Washington beaches. While Long Beach is still closed, three beaches that will open for the 3 day season are Twin Harbors, Copalis and Mocrocks. Coastal rivers which blew out earlier in the week will be winding down for salmon but some systems should see their first winter Steelhead. ODFW has Free Fishing Days November 25th and 26th and WDFW has "Black Friday Openers" at 17 different lakes and ponds in Washington. If you take advantage of the opener you might hook into what the department calls the "Holiday Specials". They stocked the lakes and ponds with thousands of large trout averaging 15-16" in length. Catch and release Sturgeon fishing is providing great action in the Willamette River. Temperatures are finally starting to cool down and hopes are that an arctic blast to move some waterfowl down won't be far off. Sauvie Island harvest numbers were still low last weekend but jumped to 2.2 and 2.0 birds per hunter average the last two shoot days. Check regulations before heading out and good luck!
