Outdoor Report for 11/24

Outdoor Report for 11/24

Free Fishing Days in Oregon start on Black Friday November 25th and go through the weekend. WDFW has "Black Friday Openers" at 17 different lakes and ponds in Washington. If you take advantage of the opener you might hook into what the department calls the "Holiday Specials". They stocked the lakes and ponds with thousands of large trout averaging 15-16" in length. Reports from weekend fishing at the coast had some mixed bags including some of the first winter chrome. A reminder of the limited 3 day Razor Clam opening at some Washington beaches. While Long Beach is still closed, three beaches that will open for the 3 day season are Twin Harbors, Copalis and Mocrocks. Over the weekend there was a report of the usual Mallard migration that seems to come through around Thanksgiving every year. Although the reports are likely accurate, the storms and sheet water, have them pretty well dispersed. Tuesday's Sauvie Island harvest report showed an average of 2.3 birds per hunter with the best success coming from the east side feed units. The lower Columbia has good amounts of Blue Bills and some Canvasbacks but they have been in the area awhile and seem to be content avoiding any popular hunting locations. Reports from Pot Holes Reservoir and Eastern Washington indicates there are tough hunting conditions and a more robust migration is needed to improve hunting. If staying at home "hunting" for great deals is more your game, Fisherman's 14 Hour Sale and Holiday Kick Off Sale has piles of great gifts for your favorite outdoors people...including yourself. Check regulations before heading out and good luck!
